Phnom Penh City Tours

Phnom Penh has been the capital since 1866 and although it suffered extensive damage during the Khmer Rouge era, the city still retains a rustic charm.

Accompanied by an English speaking local guide, tour the city to discover its ancient and recent past.

Begin your tour at Cambodia's Royal Palace, which stands majestically in the city center just off the riverfront area.
Several buildings are open to visitors including the Silver Pagoda" whose floor is lined with solid silver tiles.

Continue to the Cambodia National Museum. Located in a fabulous old building, the Museum is filled with art and artifacts dating back to the pre-Angkorian era.

At the north end of the city is the hilltop pagoda of Wat Phnom, for which the capital was named. Climb the stairs to the top of the hill for fabulous views of the city below.

Exploring the lost Great Capital Angkor Thom

The trip will begin with a little walk to Ta Nei, a jungle temple reminiscent of Tha Som, displaying classic Jayavarman VII period artistry. It was constructed mid12th century during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. The next temple would be Ta Keo, a massive, towering but plainly decorated temple mountain dedicated to Hindu Lord, Siva. Its unfinished condition is due to either a lighting strike (considered an evil omen), the death of the King, or a struggle for succession. Constructed under King Jayavarman V.The journey continues to one of the largest of all Khmer cities (Angkor Thom), which remained the capital until early in the 15th century.

Exploring – Grand Circle Tours

The first destination of this tour will be Preah Khan; Preah Khan meaning ‘sacred sword’. This temple is huge, full of carvings, passages and photo opportunities. It originally served as a Buddhist monastery and school, engaging over 1000 monks and for a short period was the residence of King Jayavarman VII, it was constructed in the late 12th century. You will then be taken to Bantey Prei, a small temple and an interesting comparison with Preah Khan. Bantey Prei was constructed in the late 12th – early 13th century, during the reign of King Jayavarman VII.  After visiting Bantey Prei you will be escorted to Neak Pean, a small island temple. The Central temple sits on the axis or a cross or lotus pattern of eight pools. Originally known as Rajasri, Neak Pean means coiled serpents from the encoiled nagas that encircle the temple. The trip will be end at Pre Rup, the state temple of Rajendravarman II, constructed in the late 10th century.

Adventure Sunrise

We suggest waking up at 4.30am for this tour, followed by a quick bite at the lobby reception area before departing from hotel at 4.50 am. The trip would be to the temple mountain, Phnom Bakheng (Bakheng Hill), the first major temple to be constructed in the Angkor area. The construction of this temple marked the move of the capital of the Khmer empire from Rolous to Angkor in the late 9th century. Your guide will escort you to the top of the hill and then you will be given time for personal exploration.

Exploring Bantey Srei Temple

Explore some of Siem Reap's temples that lie off the beaten tourist path on this one-day tour that takes you to five different temples! Choose between a join in or private tour depending on what suits your preferences. Start your tour off with a stop at Pre Rup, whose brick and laterite materials are emphasized by the light of the morning sun. This is followed by a visit to the Banteay Srei Temple, or the "Citadel of Women", believed to have been made by a woman as the carvings are thought to be too elaborate for the hand of men. Take a break and reenergize yourself with a meal at a local restaurant, where you can savor traditional Cambodian curries, soups and stir-fries at your own expense. See finely-carved sculptures at the East Mebon Temple, with a variety of structures such as stone elephants and lions, and Ta Som Temple, with four faces of Avalokiteshvara on the well-preserved towers. Treking Phnom Kulen Waterfall

Full day Boeng Melea & Banteay Srei Temple Adventure

Today we visit two of the most interesting of all the temples outside the main Angkor group and for many people the highlights of their time in Cambodia. A two hour drive from Siem Reap, Boeng Mealea stands almost forgotten in the jungle, crumbling and covered in sprawling tree roots.

Today we visit two of the most interesting of all the temples outside the main Angkor group and for many people the highlights of their time in Cambodia. A two hour drive from Siem Reap, Boeng Mealea stands almost forgotten in the jungle, crumbling and covered in sprawling tree roots. Isolated during Cambodia's civil war, Boeng Mealea was once the site of fierce fighting with the Khmer Rouge; however outsiders can now safely visit this wonderful temple. It is the largest temple outside the main Angkor complex, and is enclosed by an enormous moat. King Suryavarman II oversaw construction of 12th century ‘Boeng Mealea’, a prototype for more famous Angkor Wat. The quiet at Boeng Mealea is eerie and a welcome contrast to the more visited temples in Angkor city. We spend the morning at Boeng Mealea, allowing you time to scramble over temple ruins, or to take the more leisurely walk around the outside perimeter. We then journey the 1.5 hours to the intricately carved and well-preserved Banteay Srei and have a restaurant lunch on arrival (included, drinks at your expense). The detailed reliefs on this smaller sandstone structure are regarded as the finest, most skillfully crafted in Cambodia. Banteay Srei has only been accessible since the late 1990s, when the Khmer Rouge left the area and is considered by many to be “the jewel in Angkor’s crown”. Return to your hotel by 5.00pm. Duration approx. 8 hours.

Beng Melea & Koh Ker

Beng Mealea temple is largely overrun by vegetation and not widely visited by tourists. This gives it an adventurous “lost   temple” feel. Photographers: trees growing from the broken towers and galleries offer some best “tree in the temple”pictures. The journey takes around 1hour and 30 minutes from Siem Reap. Beng Mealea was built by the same King that built Angkor Wat, King Suryavarman II, in the early 11th century.

Koh Ker: briefly the site of the khmer empire capital is dominated by Prasat Thom a 30 meter masonry temple mountain rising above the plain surrounding forest. It depicts carvings of Garuda, the mystical mount of Vishnu. Other tower sanctuaries are    dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

We suggest an early start leaving around 6.00am with a direct 2.5 hour journey to Koh Ker.
